Shelter Update
Construction is Underway
Please excuse our mess. When you come to the shelter, please be careful as we have
multiple companies that are working during the day, with big machinery.
Many things have happened since the last newsletter. We have the concrete work
completed, walls up, roof on with singles. We have a front door installed.

Expansion started May 2024

First, we removed several trees to start the expansion project.

Tree removed Klessig Tree Service LLC of Eagle River WI

Klessig Tree Service out of Eagle River donated their time to take the trees down.

Next excavation - Dale Johnson Trucking, Conover WI

Dale Johnson and David Larsen donated their time to put the gutters up and removed the deck.
Nelson Ace Hardware donated the gutters and hardware.

Dale Johnson removed the trees and has begun the excavation.

Two volunteers (Tom Grimm and Tom Stein) are ripping the deck apart so we can reuse it
to rebuild a new deck. We are so grateful for everyone who is pitching in to make this project
such a successful project.

Your actions show your commitment and caring for our community and those less fortunate. We are incredibly grateful for everything you've done for us.

Projected costs are approximately $100,000.00. We are not state or federally funded.
We are an IRS-registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Sunshine has established supportive relationships with social service agencies, regional continuum of care, faith communities, educational institutions, health care facilities, law enforcement, educational institutions, and human service organizations. We are very grateful for all of our community support. Without the support of businesses, churches, and individuals we would not have completed this mission.

Our plan is to allow the homeless a more comfortable living and sleeping area, also adding two more bathrooms.
Our philosophy is to give a "hand up, not handouts."
Our goal is to get those in crisis a warm, safe place to stay while they are rebuilding their lives.
Many times, our shelter is full, and people have to be turned away. This number includes families with children and Veterans. We offer a warm place to lay their head, a shower, and food. We open our hands and hearts to those in need. There is a zero-tolerance policy for alcohol and drugs; testing is done randomly and Individuals with a conviction for a sexual crime will not be admitted.
